Foreword

At The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC), we are all curious professionals, all eager to find out more, know more, understand more and hopefully make more of a difference in the arts-in-education for the city. In the year 2023-24, I, Q-rious (a play on “I am Curious”) became the theme to challenge ourselves towards advancing our inquisitiveness. Being curious is a major step forward in enhancing a creative mindset.

And who better to explain some of this than all the fun people who appear in our 2023-24 annual report. It has the usual exciting sections that so many supporters and friends enjoyed in the past years. Click into Engaging Participants to hear from young people, parents, artists and teachers for personal experiences on what they have been curious about at AFTEC.

AFTEC is about the Arts For Transformative Educational Change and each programme aims for positive change in lives in a different context. We have selected three stories for you in the Creating Change section through families, teachers and young people.

Change comes from interactive Learning & Participation, and there you will get a glimpse of teenagers deep in debate on themes relevant to their lives, our long-running From Page to Stage® theatre production that schools just cannot get enough of and again, a different family picture as well. Last but not least, our deep interest in Cross-disciplinary Integration in teaching and learning lets you dive into two fantastically creative projects, in the arts and in medicine.
