From Page to Stage® 2024: Strategy

Learning & Participation

From Page to Stage® is a comprehensive Learning & Participation theatre education platform in English. Presented since 2009, this is probably the longest-running theatre-in-education production in the city for a large capacity audience. Tailor made for local secondary school students, the programme also provides learning materials and in-school workshops. We aim to nurture students’ interest in classic literature and an appreciation of the arts.

Strategy is the 16th From Page to Stage® play. Incorporating elements of Beijing opera, the play focuses on the battle of wits between Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang. Strategy is also the 100th production of The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC)’s Artistic Director Dr Vicki Ooi.

I enjoyed the part when we could express our feelings and ask questions about the play the most. I also liked the war between the kingdoms.

All of my students had no interest in theatre before Strategy. Now, many of them have approached me to find out if it would be possible to perform their own play next year. Wow!

I’m really impressed that an ancient Chinese story can be staged as an entertaining English play! The cast put on an excellent show.

My students were interested and curious to learn about the set and use of props as well as their symbolic meanings.
